Dual study programme

The practice-oriented vocational training system, or dual system, was introduced in Germany in the 20th century and has since been exported worldwide. The acquisition of professional skills takes place at two locations: the vocational school and a training company.

The dual study programme transfers this principle of practice-oriented learning to university studies. It consists of several practical blocks at a company and study phases at a university. The four and a half year programme goes beyond the classic seven semester degree programmes at HM which feature only one internship semester. Students gain considerable practical knowledge at a company alongside their studies and can earn a vocational diploma as well as a university degree.

Together with numerous partner companies, HM Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences offers a variety of options for dual study programmes. The language of instruction is German, and an excellent knowledge of the German language is required for applicants.
