Health insurance
To be able to enrol at the university and/or to apply for your residence permit it is required that you as an exchange student have sufficient (either statutory or private) health insurance.
Travel health insurance does not qualify as sufficient health insurance!
Please read through the Health Insurance document for detailed information.
If you are leaving Germany before the official end of the semester, you should cancel the insurance to avoid paying any unnecessary instalments.
1. Deregister at HM:
You can download the "Exmatrikulationsantrag" on PRIMUSS Online-Services Applications and Messages. Here you can find a manual on how to apply for the "Exmatrikulationsbescheinigung".
2. Send a letter of cancellation to the health insurance company including:
- date of departure
- the country to which you are returning to
- how long your German bank account will continue to exist
- "Exmatrikulationsbescheinigung"
