Public Transport (Semesterticket)

The Munich public transportation system (MVG) offers a great variety of public transportation throughout the city and surrounding areas. Depending of your use of public transportation, different ticket options may apply. For ticket possibilities, please observe the website of the Munich transportation company.

Starting September 2023, students can buy the so-called "Deutschland Ticket" for a subsidised monthly amount of 29 Euro. The "Deutschland Ticket" can be used 24/7 in public transportation all over Germany. It is valid on buses, trams, suburban trains, subways etc., including regional trains (e.g. RE, RB). It is not valid on any highspeed trains (e.g. ICE, IC, EC).

This ticket is a subscription, so, students have to actively cancel the subscription when they leave Germany again. Tickets can be bought through the public transportation companies or in the MVV/MVG app.
